Our institute offers state-of-the-art research infrastructure, varied and unique opportunities to develop NMR techniques in many scientific areas (possibilites include but are not limited to high-pressure NMR, photo NMR, metabolomics, pulse sequence development and protein biophysics) as well as a newly established and spacious biochemical laboratory with ample workspace and new equipment.

Job Duties::

  • Actively take part in research of the institute as well as in the conception and completion of research projects
  • Actively take part in interdisciplinary and international research cooperation
  • Develop, assess and apply advanced NMR spectroscopy and/or molecular biochemistry
  • Provide organizational support to the institute
  • Contribute to teaching of courses (~4 hours per week) or practicums and examinations in biochemistry, protein chemistry or spectroscopy
  • Contribute to the acquisition, organization, and administration of externally funded projects
  • Co-supervise Bachelor’s/Master’s theses
  • Actively take part in writing publications from research results and other forms of dissemination
  • Publish in international and recognized peer-reviewed academic journals

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree (or soon be awarded) in (Structural) Chemistry or Molecular Biophysics with demonstrated experience in advanced (NMR) spectroscopy
  • Possess a strong academic background as demonstrated by published scientific work (including first-author publications)
  • Research experience in some of the following areas is a prerequisite: experience with molecular biology, isotope labelling, protein expression and purification; spectroscopy
  • Experience with different host systems for protein production is valuable
  • Experience with bioinformatics, scripting, or programming is valuable
  • Research mind set and self-motivated
  • Strong didactical skills
  • Good command of English (Level C1, spoken and written) is expected
  • Good command of German (Level B1) is advantageous
  • Independence and capacity to organize one's work
  • Collegiality
