In recent years, the Faculty of Medicine at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) has successfully established itself as an innovative hub for medical education and research. With its modern medical campus located in the immediate vicinity of Kepler University Hospital, the faculty offers researchers an attractive and productive environment for training, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The newly established Institute for Health Services Research and Gender Medicine at Johannes Kepler University Linz is offering a position as a university assistant with a doctorate/Ph.D. on a fixed-term contract for 6 years to cover the following areas of responsibility.

Job Duties::

  • Developing an independent research profile and participating in interdisciplinary research projects
  • Publishing research findings in international peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences
  • Establishing and maintaining research networks within and outside JKU
  • Participation in the institute’s teaching and administrative tasks and in the supervision of students (including supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses)
  • Participation in the institute's activities

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a completed doctoral/Ph.D. degree in health economics or a related field
  • Interest in empirical research in the fields of health services research and gender medicine, as well as in interdisciplinary research projects at the medical school
  • Experience with health registry data is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of microeconometric methods for causal inference; knowledge of machine learning methods is preferred
  • Experience in university teaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a well-organized manner
  • Excellent English skills are required (C1 level), and good German skills are preferred (Level B2)
