Job Duties::

  • Collaboration in the exciting new basic research project, DeepFields (using drones, airborne optical sectioning (AOS) -a unique synthetic aperture sensing technique developed by JKU-, and machine learning for harvest and damage estimation in agriculture), in cooperation with the with the Austrian Hail Insurance.   • Possibility for obtaining a PhD and extension beyond project duration
  • Research, development, and field experiments with project teams
  • Planning and execution of field experiments

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a Diploma/Master’s degree in a corresponding discipline (computer science, mathematics, engineering or related) or have equivalent qualifications
  • Expertise in one or multiple of the following areas: Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Image Processing, (Aerial) Robotics
  • Excellent programming skills in Python (possibly also in C++ and Java)
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team
  • Strong command of English, both spoken and written (level C1). Knowledge of German is an advantage (level B1) but not mandatory

  • On the basis of full-time employment (40 hours/week) the minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 3,776.10 gross per month (14 x per year, CA Job Grade: B1). For an appointment of over 30 hours per week, this corresponds to a gross salary of € 2,832.08
