The Institute of Medical Systems Biology is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician for the following diverse and exciting area of responsibility:

Job Duties::

  • Independent research activities (aligned with the Institute’s research focus) and participation in the Institute’s publication projects
  • Application of statistical methods and advanced algorithms for the analysis and interpretation of research data
  • Visualization and presentation of analytical results for scientific publications, reports, and presentations
  • Integration and harmonization of diverse data sources to support biological research questions
  • Active acquisition of external research funding
  • Involvement in infrastructure and organizational tasks
  • Involvement in teaching

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics (or a corresponding discipline)
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills (minimum B2 level); basic knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and willingness to work in a team
  • Independent research (corresponding to the institute’s research field in the context of mechanistic studies of inflammatory diseases)
  • Experience in the analysis and interpretation of biological datasets, particularly omics data (e.g., genomics and transcriptomics)
  • Knowledge of statistical data analysis and data visualization
  • A proven track record of successfully securing external research funding and fellowships is an advantage
  • Experience with commonly used bioinformatics tools, databases, and analysis pipelines is an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills and a high affinity for data-driven questions
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration with experts from biology, medicine, computer science, and statistics
  • Experience in the integration of diverse omics datasets and regulator inference
