The primary goal of Tumor Epigenetics laboratory is to understand the dynamic epigenetic regulation underlying cancer development and therapeutic resistance, in particular, the mechanisms of aging-driven carcinogenesis. We seek to build a multidisciplinary approach using molecular and cell biology techniques, cell cultures, animal models, clinical samples and high-throughput sequencing technologies to decipher the epigenetic driving force of anticancer therapeutic resistance, define new biomarkers, and develop new approaches to overcome the therapeutic resistance in cancer.

Job Duties::

  • Plan, direct and conduct research experiments
  • Conduct in vivo experiments, including animal handling, treatment administration, monitoring, and sample collection
  • Evaluate and analyze research results
  • Write reports for presentation and/or publication in professional journals and other publications
  • Supervise bachelor and master students
  • Follow all lab safety rules and report any hazards identified to management in the workplace
  • Support the JKU’s research service team

Your Qualifications::

  • Applicants must have a university degree in molecular and cell biology or a related field
  • Prior experience with laboratory animals, including handling, treatment administration, and tissue collection, is required. FELASA certification or equivalent training in animal experimentation is a strong asset
  • Strong background in the field of cancer research and molecular biology is a preferred
  • Good communication skills to work in an international team
  • A goal-oriented working style characterized by independence, strong motivation, reliability, and creativity
  • Publication in cancer research field is valued
  • Very good knowledge of German (B2) and English (C1), both written and spoken
