The newly established research group for "Secure Systems" in the Secure and Correct Systems Lab will focus on security engineering and security economics using quantitative methods, especially artificial intelligence. We are looking for research assistants with the aim of writing a dissertation and offer rich opportunities for own research and projects in different areas of IT security, including but not limited to secure machine learning, security decision support systems, protocol design and verification, formal methods, cryptography and many more. Interdisciplinary approaches such as combining machine learning with classical security mechanisms for innovative new security concepts are particularly welcome.

Job Duties::

  • Scientific work with the aim of writing a dissertation
  • Participation in scientific research projects of the Lab and scientific publications
  • Teaching activities at undergraduate level, including examination activities
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the lab

Your Qualifications::

  • Completed diploma/master's degree in computer science or mathematics at a national or an international university or equivalent education. Among your qualifications, please highlight your education and grades in terms of discrete mathematics and programming. Include your master thesis, and other potentially relevant publications of yours as supplementary document in the application
  • Profound knowledge in at least one or several of the following areas:
    • Applied security or cryptography
    • Game-, Decision- or Control-Theory for security
    • Data science and artificial intelligence
    • Network security
    • IT risk management
    • Security economics
  • Certified knowledge in Programming, preferably the following languages: C/C++, R, Python (include any certificates that you have)
  • Open-mindedness to learn new topics, develop new methods and combine different methods with each other
  • Good language skills in written and spoken German (level at least B2), or willingness to acquire them within 2 years
  • Very good language skills in English (level at least C1)
