Our laboratory at the Center for Medical Research focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms of rare diseases, particularly in the areas of osteology and endocrinology and neurology in children.

Job Duties::

  • Next-generation sequencing (NGS): planning, conduction and analysis of NGS experiments, including whole exome sequencing and RNA-seq to identify disease-causing genomic variants
  • Bioinformatic data analysis: use and development of bioinformatic tools to analyze large genetic data sets, identify pathogenic mutations and functional genomics
  • Cell and tissue culture: Cultivation and genetic manipulation of cell lines and primary cells using CRISPR-Cas9 and episomal vectors, including work under BSL-2 conditions
  • Functional studies: Conducting functional studies to investigate the effects of genomic variations on gene expression, protein expression, protein function and cellular signaling pathways
  • Data presentation and publication: compilation, analysis, interpretation and publication of collected data in scientific journals and at conferences
  • Funding acquisition: acquisition of third-party funding and management of independent research projects
  • Teaching and supervision: Supervision of PhD students and diploma students as well as participation in teaching activities

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctoral/Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics, genetics, molecular biology or a related field
  • Extensive experience in conducting and analyzing NGS experiments
  • Sound knowledge of bioinformatics methods and the analysis of genetic data, such as the comprehensive interpretation of genome, transcription and proteome data
  • Practical experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qRT-PCR, cloning, western blotting and sequencing
  • Experience with gene editing using CRISPR-Cas9 and episomal vectors
  • Independent, well-structured way of working and the ability to manage several projects at the same time
  • Motivated, flexible team player with excellent communication skills and willingness to develop new methods
  • Very good knowledge of German and English (level C1)
