The Institute for Mathematical Methods in Medicine and Data Based Modeling is conducting research on the computational modelling of biomedical problems, seeking quantitative answers to practical problems arising in medicine. In collaboration with the associated Mathematical Methods in Medicine and Life Science (M3LS) research group at the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, it constitutes the Linz Lab for in-silico medical interventions (https://linzlabinsilmed.github.io), whose mission is to advance medical interventions through innovative in-silico modelling techniques.

Job Duties::

Independent research in the field of patient-specific computational modelling of biomedical problems
Collaboration in interdisciplinary cooperation projects and third-party funded projects
Independent acquisition of external funding
(co-)supervision of Bachelor’s/Master’s and Ph.D. theses
Independent teaching for four hours per week of courses in the field of applied mathematics and medical engineering, supervision of students and holding of examinations
Cooperation on organisational and administrative tasks

Your Qualifications::

The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related field
Proficiency with Python programming
Strong proficiency in English, level B2/2
German skills desirable level B1
Capacity for teamwork, organizational talent and ability to communicate
Experience in patient-specific numerical simulation
Experience in interdisciplinary research and HPC (desirable)
Experience in modeling and simulation of ECMO - Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (desirable)
