The Medical Faculty of the Johannes Kepler University Linz is one of the youngest medical faculties in German-speaking countries. A position as a university assistant with a doctorate or PhD is being advertised at the Institute of Pharmacology.

Job Duties::

  • Participation in the teaching and organizational tasks of the Institute for Pharmacology of the Medical Faculty and in the supervision of students
  • Co-supervision of doctoral students
  • Supervision of bachelor's and master's theses
  • Support in the labor organization and maintenance, as well as in the supervision of the institute's technical facilities
  • Application and implementation of independent research projects
  • Visualization and presentation of analysis results for scientific publications and presentations.
  • Mentoring of (including non-German speaking) students

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must have a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree in a field of biology, biotechnology, biophysics or comparable fields
  • Profound knowledge of immunology and pharmacology
  • Several years of experience with cell culture work as well as processing and analysis of primary material (human and mouse), with a particular focus on flow cytometry
  • Experience with electrophysiological techniques, especially patch-clamp methods
  • Experience with imaging and microscopy techniques, especially Calcium imaging, live cell imaging and FRET
  • Several years of experience in biochemical and molecular biology methods, including biochemical signaling
  • Knowledge of sample preparation for mass spectrometry is desirable
  • Experience with university teaching and participation in internships
  • Experience in organizing course-related events
  • Very good Knowledge of English and German is required (German and English at least level C1)
  • Ability to work in a team, loyalty and service orientation
  • Ability to conduct independent research
