The JKU library is currently establishing a research data management department. This is an opportunity for a professionally competent and experienced individual to help develop this new department as part of the library's data steward team.

Job Duties::

  • Supporting and assisting researchers at the JKU Faculty of Medicine, primarily in the field of cancer research, in matters relating to research data from the perspective of good scientific practice, quality, integrity, and ethics.
  • Guidance, advice, and support for physicians engaged in scientific work, from the creation of data management plans (DMPs) to the publication and licensing of data sets.
  • Participation in the development of an interoperable expert system database for personalized cancer medicine, including the necessary integration and harmonization of data from various sources, such as electronic patient records, laboratory data, and research databases.
  • Training and consulting services for handling medical research data
  • Close cooperation with the planned Comprehensive Cancer Center Linz (CCCL)
  • Participation in relevant national and international committees, projects, and working groups, as well as close cooperation with other medical universities in Austria
  • Support in the application and use of the electronic laboratory notebook eLabFTW

Your Qualifications::

  • Completed degree (at least diploma/master's level) in a medical, life science, or related subject
  • Experience in data-based clinical or life science research
  • Completed training as a data steward or similar is an advantage
  • Knowledge of metadata schemas used for research data and relevant national and international standards
  • Knowledge of open science, open data, and the FAIR principles
  • Knowledge of the current research landscape and practice, as well as their development
  • Ability to deal with change and complex issues
  • Independent and autonomous working style, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and responsible behavior
  • Willingness to participate in further training and education as well as business trips
  • Very good German and English skills (at least level C1 in each language)

  • On the basis of full-time employment (40 hours/week) the minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 3,390.30 gross per month (14 x per year, CA Job Grade: IVa)
