Job Duties::

  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary research project “SCODI – Sociotechnical Construction of Digital Identity” (funded by LIFT_C), led by Asst. Prof. David Seibt (PI, Institute of Sociology), Prof. Uli Meyer (Co-PI, Institute of Sociology), and Prof. René Mayrhofer (Co-PI, Institute of Networks and Security)
  • Independent and collaborative research on digital identity systems in the EU, focusing on the perspectives of marginalized groups (e.g., undocumented migrants), using qualitative methods (e.g., expert interviews, document analysis, focused ethnographies)
  • Close collaboration with project partners from computer science and civil society
  • Design, implementation, and subsequent analysis of workshops and participatory makeathons with practice partners
  • Development of sociotechnical scenarios and contribution to technology policy recommendations
  • Publication of research findings in international journals
  • Presentation of project results at academic conferences
  • Opportunity to develop a dissertation within the framework of the project

Your Qualifications::

  • Completed Master’s or Diploma degree in Sociology or a related social science discipline
  • Excellent knowledge of qualitative social science research methods
  • Strong background or keen interest in sociology of technology, science & technology studies, and social studies of digitalization
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary context, particularly with partners from computer science and civil society
  • Excellent command of German and English (at least C1 level)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
