The Faculty of Medicine at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) has successfully established itself as an innovative location for medical teaching and research in recent years. The University Clinic for Internal Medicine 3 - Hematology and Internal Oncology is looking for a dedicated university assistant with a doctorate/PhD for the following areas of responsibility

Particular research focuses include spatially resolved single-cell technologies (spatial multiplex single-cell multi-omics) for characterizing tumor ecosystems, therapy-surviving persister cells in lymphomas and other tumor types, and functional analyses of cellular senescence and senolysis (see, for example, Milanovic et al., Nature 2018, Lee et al. Nature 2021, Reimann et al. J Exp Med 2024, Belenki et al., Nat Commun 2025).

Job Duties::

  • Independent supervision of research projects within a team, including planning, methodological implementation, documentation, analysis, and interpretation of experimental approaches
  • Development of an independent research profile and exploration of new interdisciplinary fields of research
  • Compilation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of collected data
  • Preparation of scientific publications
  • Presentation of data at national and international conferences
  • Cooperation with the Coordination Center for Clinical Studies (KKS Linz) of the JKU Faculty of Medicine and the Service Center for Clinical Research (SCCR) of Kepler University Hospita
  • Maintaining research networks within and outside JKU
  • Collaborating in teaching
  • Supervising doctoral students and bachelor's and master's theses
  • Assisting with laboratory organization and maintenance
  • Participating in infrastructural and organizational tasks

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a completed doctoral/Ph.D. degree in natural sciences, medicine, or related subjects
  • Broad spectrum of molecular biology methods
  • Interest in independent research or the development of methods and procedures
  • High level of motivation in the field of research and in establishing an independent research profile
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding
  • Experience with scientific presentations
  • Independent, structured way of working with good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and enjoy collaborating in an international team
  • Very good German (level C1) and English (level B2) skills
