The Institute of Organization Science at JKU conducts interdisciplinary research in organization studies with a strong focus on the role of business and society. We focus on three key areas in our research and teaching: Organizing for Creativity and Innovation, Organizing for Digital Transformation, and Organizing for Sustainability and Social Change. We are a successful team, committed to research excellence and innovative teaching. In spring 2026, Prof. Dr. Florian Überbacher will join JKU as the new head of the Institute. The new postdoctoral assistants will work with him and the team of the Institute.

Job Duties::

  • Conducting new research projects and publishing research results in leading international journals
  • Developing and teaching university courses in the field of Organization Studies (4 to 6 weekly hours/semester, in English)
  • Involvement in applications of third-party funds
  • Supervision and assistance of students and doctoral students at the Institute
  • Participation in the development of the Institute and in practice transfer activities

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree in business administration, sociology, or political science
  • Strong command of English (C1), German language skills are not required
  • Track record of publications in leading international academic journals in organization and management studies
  • Thematic fit: contributions to one or more of the instiute's key areas of research (see above)
  • Focus on macro-organizational theories (e.g. neo-institutional theory or resource dependence theory) and on topics at the intersection of business and society and/or business and politics
  • Preferably experience and/or interest in conducting research on the oil and gas industry or on the semiconductor industry and their shifting geopolitical contexts and dependencies
  • Comprehensive experience in conducting inductive, qualitative social research
  • Internationally oriented
  • Very independent and reliable work
