We are looking for a motivated research assistant to join us in the interdisciplinary research project “Assistive Technologies Lab (ATLab)” (funded by the State of Upper Austria and JKU, subproject led by Univ-Prof. Uli Meyer, Department of Sociology).

Job Duties::

  • Collaborative contribution in the ATLab research project within an interdisciplinary consortium comprising sociology, computer science, and medicine, together with partners from civil society
  • Qualitative empirical research into the socio-technical embedding, use, and impact of assistive technologies in different areas of everyday life
  • Publication of research results in international journals
  • Presentation of project results at scientific conferences
  • Opportunity to write a dissertation as part of the project

Your Qualifications::

  • The successful candidate must hold a completed master's degree (or equivalent, e.g., diploma) in sociology or a related social science discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of the sociology of technology, disability studies, science and technology studies, and/or health sciences
  • Expertise in frameworks such as socio-technical systems/constellations and/or implicit or experience-based knowledge
  • Initial experience in qualitative empirical research (e.g., interviews, ethnographic observation, document analysis, or case studies) and very good knowledge of qualitative research methods
  • Strong interest in the interrelationship between society and technology as well as inclusive, participatory technology development
  • Very good knowledge of German and English (at least C1 level)
  • Interest in and/or initial experience in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration as well as in project coordination and management
